Reportedly, GH News confirms that Adam Huss returns to reports his role as Nikolas Cassadine. He was last on the show back in early September of 2023. After months of speculation and fan discussion over who will play Nikolas Cassadine, Huss has stepped back into the role. Prior to Huss, Nikolas was most recently played by Marcus Coloma until his 2023 exit. Back in early Fall the news broke that Coloma’s contract would not renew. Sadly, Marcus’s three years as Nikolas was over and dans weren’t happy. Before his sudden death, Nikolas Cassadine’s original portrayer, Tyler Christopher was rumored as a possible candidate for the role post Marcus’s exit. Unfortunately, his tragic death devastated fans and loved ones.

General Hospital spoilers reveal that Nikolas is back to get revenge on Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), the mother of son, Ace. It’s no secret that she and her father, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) set out to destroy Nikolas and Ava’s marriage, and succeeded. Betty was working for Pikeman to help take down Sonny and blackmail Ava Jerome (Maura West). But did we ever stop to think about why Betty was so willing to put herself in the position to be “eliminated” by Sonny Corinthos?

Ava Jerome isn’t winning any popularity contests in Port Charles. Although I bet she’d win when pinned up against Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). That woman has less friends than Regina George after her Burn Book was exposed. Trina is probably Ava’s most loyal supporter in life as Trina has never kidnapped or killed any of Ava’s children. She also never framed her for a murder or stalked her at any time. Despite Trina’s loyalty, I think it’s safe to say that Ava has more enemies than friends.

Let’s just say that Ava handled the news in true fashion. Although surveillance cameras were operating properly inside the gallery, the footage won’t do her justice. Evidently, got captured on the security cameras is more likely to hurt Ava than help her. Nikolas Cassadine has his share of reasons to stay far, far away from Port Charles. First, his relationship with his son Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) was rocky ever since Nikolas faked his death. It’s understandable that Spencer felt abandoned, and distances himself from his father. Emotionally, the two were further apart than ever. Spencer was back from boarding school and living at Wyndemere, distance separated father and son.

Nikolas had other problems in his life but they all stemmed from the same issue. It was a vicious cycle back when Spencer and Esme both had it out for Nikolas and Ava. As a result, Spencer’s resentment towards his dad and step mom helped fuel Esme’s agenda. Additionally, Spencer unknowingly fed into Esme’s trap which helped lead Ava and Nikolas astray from each other. It was the straw the broke the camel’s back for Spencer.

Nikolas Killed Austin Over Ava?!

Once Esme seduced Nikolas and she became pregnant, time eventually did its job. It was only a matter of time that Spencer found out about how his father Nikolas slept with Esme. At this point Spencer had been betrayed by Nikolas enough. And on top of that, he found out who is girlfriend really was.

Ava Jerome (Maura West) was roped into the middle of it all between Nikolas and Spencer. But Ryan’s fixation on Ava fueled Esme’s entire plot, resulting in Ava’s marriage to Nikolas. According to General Hospital spoilers, Nikolas gets his revenge! The last time that he saw Ava was the night she thought she killed him. Until recently, Ava assumed that he was dead. Thanks to Austin, Ava was able to hide Nikolas’s body, or so she thought. That’s when one thing lead to another and Ava ended up sleeping with Austin. Now, Nikolas wants revenge.

Since the Soap Opera’s 2012 cancellation, Howarth has played various Daytime TV roles. In fact, he became known for playing more than a couple characters on the same Soap. First Roger brought OLTL’s Manning to GH. Then, he was written off and he has played two other roles on GH following the Llanview legend. While General Hospital fans mourn Austin’s death and Howarth’s departure, hope remains that he returns as someone entirely new.

Why Roger Howarth Is Leaving GH

“Several weeks ago I got a phone call from somebody I’ve known for a very long time who I love very dearly [GH and OLTL Executive Producer Frank Valentini] telling me that when my contract was up at ABC I would not be offered a new contract and that the character of Austin would be killed, and that this was something they both wanted and needed to do to move story,” the iconic daytime television star revealed to Soap Opera Digest. “And it took me a minute to kind of adjust, to kind of hear the news; it took a second for me to let that settle in.

“And then, immediately, I realized how lucky I was to have been able to do something I really love doing for more than a decade with people who I really enjoyed working with,” Howarth continued. “I’m a lucky guy. I had a great run and this was a decision made by people who make these kinds of decisions for a living. For me, I felt it was very much like that scene in Moneyball and Jonah Hill had just told me I’ve been traded. I feel very respected and supported. For a long time, I’ve enjoyed coming to work, learning lines, and saying them with really cool people.”

Will Roger Return In His Fourth Role?

So much is to be said about a 30+ year acting career. Daytime Television has been luck to have a talent such as Roger. The best is yet to come!

Clearly, there is no bad blood between Howarth, Valentini, and TPTB over at GH. Roger’s statement clarifies any misunderstandings that may have developed through recent GH rumors. Although Roger cleared the air and shared the truth behind his GH exit, one thing remains uncertain. Soaps are known for some wild casting shifts. It’s a good thing that Roger Howarth’s versatility is evident through in his performances. The roles he plays tend to change up like the wanderer trying to find themselves. Over the years Howard has played many different roles in daytime television. But his iconically known role is one soap fans will never forget. Undoubtedly, Roger’s portrayal of Todd Manning is one of the most recognized roles in the genre.

Furthermore, Howarth was brought on to play the iconic Franco after James Franco stepped away from the infamous role. Then, Roger’s portrayal of Franco’s unexpected demise shook the fans. Then lastly, Howarth returned yet again, this time as a mysterious a doctor from Pautuck, Dr. Austin Gatlin Holt. As it turns out, Austin is also a Quartermaine.

Therefore, Roger Howarth’s GH exit is only temporary.
