The son of Spencer Cassadine and Esme Prince is a Cassadine heir, a legendary Spencer, a Webber, and a Chamberlain. If you’re asking, I’d say that’s a pretty impressive bloodline- depending on your definition of the word impressive.
A child with that caliber of genetic makeup is not a child to put on the back burner. For a while, Ace was front and center with his mom and dad, Esme and Spencer. But when Baby Ace’s parents allegedly died, the main character vibe went to the wayside. That’s when Ace moved in with his grandma Laura Collins (Genie Francis). We’ve barely heard a peep about him since.
Twins Jay and Joey Clay joined General Hospital on February 23, 2023. Instantly, the shared role was well received by GH fans, and the boys stole viewer’s hearts. Baby Ace Cassadine quickly became a fan favorite. Let’s just say that Heather Webber and Laura Collins weren’t the only doting grandmother types to fawn over the Cassadine heir.
Often times a child actor is replaced by TPTB for various reasons. Mainly, children are aged to fit a new storyline, more suited for an older child. In the Soap Opera world we call that SORAS. SORAS stands for Soap Opera Rapid Age Syndrome.
Baby Ace Cassadine Recast
December 2nd episode of General Hospital revealed a new baby Ace Cassadine. Although the iconic Soap decided against giving baby Ace a case of SORAS, GH has recast Laura Collins’s grandson. Apparently, the upcoming storyline direction doesn’t require a sudden grow/glow up for Spencer and Esme’s son.
According to Jay and Joey Clay’s Instagram (run by mom, Lana), the boys have something in the works. Lana shared a post on November 19th, and reflected on the twins’ “journey into the entertainment world.” Lana’s post refers to Jay and Joey’s time on General Hospital in the past tense. Sadly, this tells GH fans what we need to know, but not what we want to hear.
Evidently, Jay and Joey Clay no longer share the role of baby Ace. Instead, Ace has been recast. On a happier note, Lana Clay’s Instagram post revealed that the boys have been pretty busy. She alludes to a new project for them, and to look out for them in 2026.
Although we already miss the Clay brothers as Ace, we look forward to watching them grow and branch off into new projects. Best of luck to Jay and Joey, and their family as they continue on this journey.
