General Hospital News And Spoilers: Laura Wright Weighs In On The Longevity And Legacy Of ‘General Hospital’ Are Soap Days Numbered?

General Hospital news and spoilers have reported the 59 year old daytime drama has filmed it’s 15,000 episode. Previously the tribute episode was set to air on June 17th, it was then pushed back to June 20th, and now, due to news coverage in GH’s time slot, the celebratory episode will air on June 21st.

When General Hospital fans reflect on their favorite soap opera, they can’t help to think of some key players such as Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), along with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), The Quartermaine and Cassadine families, and so many more.

General Hospital spoilers reveal Cleveland.com has acquired some inside information in Laura Wright’s take on the longevity and legacy of this iconic American soap opera. When asked to explain her take on GH’s impressive longevity, Wright explained, “It’s the fans and their love for the show. We’re really here because of them and their love for the characters, the stories and, gosh, the history.”

As a proud fan myself since the mid 1990’s, I feel honored and appreciated at the credit Laura has bestowed upon the fans.

When it comes to taking the risk, and “going there” regarding bold, realistic, raw, and controversial story lines, Laura feels the risk isn’t a threat [because], “those are stories that should be told. So, I don’t find it risky. I find it current and true to humanity. We’re just telling people’s stories. I don’t know if it’s risky to tell the Alzheimer’s story or the transgender story because we are reflecting people in the world today and I think that’s important.”

Are the days of soap operas numbered?

It’s true that General Hospital is one of only 4 remaining soaps on television, and the only daytime drama left on ABC after the cancellation of All My Children and One Life To Live back in the earlier 2000s. However, Laura has a bright outlook when faced with the question of whether or not she finds the days are numbered for the soap genre. Wright explains, “I think the future of daytime is strong with all the different platforms you can watch the show on. The fans love that they can get us anytime, whether it be on ABC or Hulu.” Thank God for all of that!

Carly Corinthos: Wife, Mother, Strong, Capable, and a true force to be reckoned with, all while loving to her fullest ability!

Laura Wright touches on her feelings for her character Carly, and what it’s like playing this passionate, strong, intense, and loving woman. When named a “force of nature,” Laura agreed. She went on to describe Carly. She said, “First of all, thank you. I agree, she is a force of nature. It’s amazing and exhausting to be Carly depending on the day because I’m also Laura and she has her life. It’s really interesting, the difference between playing in Carly’s world and being in Laura’s world. But it’s super fun and I love doing it. One of our writers explained Carly as the woman that everybody wants to be friends with and I was like, oh my God, I love that. It’s so true.”

General Hospital spoilers and reveal Laura has spilled the tea on what is ahead for Carly this Summer. She admits that many changes are in store for her character, and her developing relationship with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is just the beginning.

Ultimately, Laura tells die hard fans exactly what they want to hear when asked about diving into another 15,000 episodes. She declared, “Hell yeah. Bring it on.”

General Hospital News And Spoilers: Steve Burton Defends Kelly Monaco And Kelly Thiebaud In The War For Jason’s Heart

Earlier this week, General Hospital Blog shared some snippets of Steve Burton’s recent interview with Soap Opera Digest. In that interview, Steve revealed his feelings on Jason and Carly’s (Laura Wright) upcoming nuptials, and how this is something new for both Steve and Laura’s characters. He also revealed his thoughts on Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) big return to Port Charles, along with other pressing GH topics.

General Hospital news reports reveal Burton has also voiced his take on the war for Jason Morgan’s heart. It’s undeniable that die hard Jason and Sam Morgan, (Kelly Monaco) aka JaSam fans, aren’t too happy about, 1) his upcoming marriage to Carly, and more importantly, 2) his feelings for Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). As history tells it’s story, fan wars over who Jason Morgan gives his heart to has always been a heated battle. Back in the day, fans were on either side of Jason and Sam (JaSam) and Jason and Liz (Rebecca Herbst), (Liason). General Hospital message boards and forums across the internet would explode with fans arguing over their favorite couple. The arguments would get ruthless, and many times, the Soapnet message boards would be shut down for the day by moderators.

General Hospital spoilers reveal there’s a new battle to be fought. This time between Jason and Sam fans vs. Jason and Britt (Brason) fans.

In his recent interview, Burton disclosed his feelings on the bashing his co-stars, Kelly Monaco and Kelly Thiebaud are currently enduring from GH “fans” who are on either side of the war for Jason’s heart. He said, “I get it. I’ve watched shows before where I’ve been upset, okay?” Burton said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “So I understand that people get upset over things, for sure. The thing that I don’t condone or like is that people were attacking both Kellys.” 

He added, “I’m not on social that much anymore, but I saw some bad things being said about Kelly Monaco, and some bad things about Kelly Thiebaud, and that’s when I check out. That’s when I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m not even going to engage or read this stuff.’ It is two real human beings that can be affected by those comments, you know?”

Steve is also empathetic to the situation. He disclosed that he too get emotionally invested in the characters and relationships of the shows he watches. He said, “My wife and I watched something on Netflix and something happened and I went, “This is the stupidest show I’ve ever seen! I’m not watching this! I can’t believe they would do something this dumb!” He revealed, “I was so invested that by that point, I go, “I get why people get upset!”… But then we finished it! You kind of settle down and go, ‘It’s a TV show. Get back to the freakin’ TV and watch the rest of it.”

When it’s all said and done, Steve revealed that the actors do not have “We are just doing our job, doing the best we can to tell the story that’s written, the writers, Chris and Dan, aren’t calling us going, “Hey, what do you think about this?”

Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) was always down for the ride with her true love, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Come Hell or high water, Jason and Sam were each other’s ride or die. Knowing exactly what Jason’s line of work was all about, Sam not only accepted the lifestyle, but was a willing participant.

As time went on, JaSam continued to go on strong, even when external forces would tear them apart. Jason and Sam always fought their way back to each other, and they fought hard. Even after everything they’ve been through, one day Sam came to a realization that this life is no life for raising kids. And just like that (so it seems), she broke things off for the sake of the children.

Sam is so used to being entangled in Jason’s life that now that she isn’t his number one priority, she’s having a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that there will be information for which she isn’t privy when it comes to Jason’s business.

Carly has to watch herself even more now that she has stepped up and took Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) place as part of the Five Families. Carly knows she’s already in over her head and she has to stay afloat. Involving anyone else at this point would just add to the risk. It’s obvious that Sam ari loves Jason, and she is still a priority to him. But for now, he’s on the run with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), and Carly is running the show. To say there’s no room for Sam might sound a bit harsh, but at this time, it’s true.

Sam is definitely starting to feel like an outsider now that she reaps what she has sown. Britt and Carly are taking priority in Jason’s life and there’s nothing Sam can do about it at this time.

Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) have been spending time together as friends, leaning on each other as they deal with life’s curve balls.
