The late Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) went on a tear, destroying anything and anyone in her way. Amidst the behind the scenes chaos of the Nurses Ball, Brook Lynn threatened to call the cops on Nelle. Consequently, that’s when Nelle used fabric shears to attack Brook Lynn. Her throat was slashed, causing permanent damage to the vocal cords. Although BLQ’s speaking voice returned with time, the damage was too great to go forward with her singing career.

Will Brook Lynn Sing Again?

General Hospital news reports confirm Wally Kurth and Amanda Setton discussed their musical attributes during a recent Coastal Entertainment zoom event. Amanda opened up about working with her tv dad, Wally Kurth, a Ios a musical duo. During the event, a fan asked Setton if she and Brook Lynn shared the ability to sing. Amanda was happy to admit she can sing, however, she doesn’t sing professionally. “Yeah, I do sing,” Setton confirmed. “But I don’t l professionally sing, and I’ve said to Wally [Kurth; Ned] and Josh [Swickard; Chase] and this other great girl who is on the show right now who plays the role of Blaze and has an amazing voice and stage presence, she is like a firecracker, she is amazing. You have to have a real confidence, and if it’s just us, or we’re in a studio, I could definitely sing.

“But I do think there’s a different level of command over the material and over the craft that one needs to have,” she continued, “and a comfort that I don’t know that I possess. Brook Lynn is such a badass and such a confident woman, I wouldn’t want to do her a disservice, so it just kind of worked out…the storyline, how it’s going. If there’s an opportunity where her vocal cords magically heal, which I’m sure in General Hospital-land, anything’s possible, then we’ll see what happens, but for right now, I am grateful in that sense that it’s not the end all, be all for Brook Lynn, is her voice. I can play badass pretty well. I don’t know that I could play badass singer so great.”

Wally Kurth aka Eddie Maine Weighs In

General Hospital’s Wally Kurth weighed in; “If I have anything to do with, it will be singing together at a Nurses Ball in the future,” Kurth happily told fans. Both parties seem to be on board while expecting a time when Brooklyn’s vocal cords are healed.

Kelly revealed her reason in a recent statement to Soap Opera Digest. “One is that I’m in love,” she admitted, “and have been doing long-distance for almost a year now, and my partner cannot move to the States at the moment.” Additionally, Thiebaud reveals another element to her personal decision. Kelly said, “But also… I am very interested in doing other things with my career,” she continued. “As much as I love Britt and I love the fans and I love General Hospital, I just felt like I had to go and pursue those other dreams and goals of mine.” Kelly spent over a decade on General Hospital as Dr. Britt Westbourne. Her schedule did not allow her the freedom to pursue other things.

The halls of the hospital will definitely be different without its Chief of Staff, Dr. Britt Westbourne. Sadly, we all have to say goodbye to a bright light, a spunky spark, and overall inspiring actress and role. Kelly and The Britch left a mark on our hearts. We will forever be grateful for the writing and performances that brought us Dr. Britt Westbourne.
