GH’s Kimberly McCullough Lands Gig On BIG ABC Prime Time Show

General Hospital news just hit the media that General Hospital’s own Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio Drake), is doing just what she set out to do. She left her role as Robin Scorpio Drake a few years ago, and has since returned a few times for cameo appearances. McCullough left to purse a directing career which she has had much success with since she left the show.

As ABC-Disney Program Director Kimberly, has been a part of Disney Channel’s Shake it Up directing team, along with the new Disney Channel show, KC Undercover.

Kimberly has just landed a new gig with the ABC-Disney network and this murder mystery is ready for McCullough’s creative mind. Kimberly will be directing an episode of the thrilling murder mystery, Pretty Little Liars which airs on ABC Family.

Y&R WON’T Make Deal With Tristan Rogers

Last week General Hospital Blog posted regarding the possibility of a Robert Scorpio return. Although Actor Tristan Rogers is currently under contract with The Young and the Restless, it was believed the the executives over at the CBS soap would allow Tristan to co over to General Hospital from time to time.

Tristan Rogers (Colin Atkinson Y&R) hoped that his current contract would still allow him to make cameo appearances as Robert Scorpio on GH. Since Y&R star Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) was allowed to film on Days of Our Lives during her contract, Rogers was under the impression that he would be allowed to do the same.

For now, the decision has been made. Tristan Rogers is under contract with CBS’ The Young and the Restless, and is not allowed to make any appearances on ABC’s General Hospital, as the legendary Robert Scorpio.

How do you feel about this decision from the executives at Y&R?

Do you think Tristan will jump shit and head over to GH after his contract is up with Y&R? Let us know by leaving your comments in the comment section.

Steve Burton Headed to The Young and The Restless?

After 21 years as General Hospital’s popular character, Jason Morgan, Steve Burton announced that he was leaving his career at GH to fulfill his and his family’s dream of moving to Tennessee. Just a few months after his exit, there is talk of the soap star heading over to Y&R. The news is puzzling to fans, and we will have to wait for the full story. In the mean time check out this article from TVGuide.com on the topic. Click here.

Laura Wright on ABC’s The Chew: Don’t Hate!

General Hospital’s Carly Corinthos Jacks (Laura Wright) will be joining the cast of The Chew today, May 31st at 1PM Eastern/Standard time. Strong opinions against this have been circulating the soap fan world, as they are not happy with Laura’s decision. As we all know, The Chew is the replacement show for our beloved soap All My Children. I have not ever watched The Chew or The Revolution. However, I will watch The Chew today solely to support GH star, Laura Wright. I don’t think Laura is doing a bad thing here. The damage has already been done, our soaps have already been canceled. Laura is supporting her network, ABC,  and her winery, Standing Sun Wines. The way I see it, having Ms. Wright on The Chew can only do good things for General Hospital. I think ABC actually made a smart move by having someone from General Hospital on The Chew. Who knows, it may even draw more people to General Hospital. As for the possibility of upping the ratings for The Chew because of Laura, it will work for today, but I highly doubt it will cause wild popularity for the show in the long run. And I am good with that. I will be watching today, and any other day that The Chew will honor our soap GH by having one of the stars as a guest and promoting General Hospital. Will I watch The Chew any other time? Heck no. Simply because I don’t even watch those types of shows. Please stop hating on Laura Wright for her decision to support her network, promote GH, and have some fun!

GH Will Reach It’s 50th Birthday

We are so happy and proud that GH will be around to see it’s 50th birthday. This is such exciting news for everyone involved. The actors and crew have been doing such an amazing job working extremely hard to bring us this ongoing entertainment for so many years. I am thankful that ABC put some thought into this decision after what I feel was an abrupt and regrettable decision to shrink the soap genre by two iconic soaps, All My Children and One Life to Live. I have complete confidence that the cast and crew will be able to keep pulling off stellar work and the ABC network will keep GH on the air. I have faith in our show! Once again, congrats General Hospital! You deserve it!

ABC Renews General Hospital!!!!!!!

Breaking news!!!!!!!!!! ABC has confirmed that The Revolution will be canceled in July to make room for Katie Couric’s talk show and General Hospital will live on!!! VICTORY!!!!  This news brings happy tears to my eyes!!! Way to go GH!

The Flame Still Burns Bright

In the recent past there has been a lot of buzz circulating in regard to the surviving potential of our beloved soap. Last week soap fans got a hint of good news and a glimmer of hope for the future of General Hospital. After the cancellation of two iconic soap operas, All My Children and One Life to Live, General Hospital fans have been on pins and needles waiting to hear of the fate of their favorite show. It was brought to our attention that The Revolution, the been-there, done-that, nobody-cares about- talk show that Daytime watchers have absolutely no interest in,  hasn’t done as well as TPTB had hoped. The ratings are hardly what was expected and the show’s chances for renewal are very slim. This makes a soap fan like me grin from ear to ear. It’s been said that the Daytime audience is changing with the times, and that shows like The Revolution would appeal to a larger audience. I just don’t see it. Simple as that. We don’t want another reality show, or food show, or another round table type. We want our soaps! Soaps are not only for the stay at home mom, or the retired woman. They appeal to a wide range audience including working women, moms, teens, college students, and men! Have these executives not heard of DVR? Yes I am a stay at home mom, but I want to watch GH in peace and quiet. I don’t watch it at 3 PM, I use the benefits of technology and set my DVR to record General Hospital every single day and I watch it at night or catch up later in the week. Soap fans are very loyal and no matter what type of lifestyle changes occur, such as a new job, becoming a mom, or taking some classes, with DVR we are still able to devote and hour to our soap. Soap Operas are not only classic and legendary, but an iconic feature in our society, and still manage to remain topics of conversation in many different scenarios.  I was recently watching a movie called The Sitter, starring Jonah Hill. In one of the scenes he was sitting on the couch watching TV. General Hospital was on and it was a clip of Jason and Franco! I feel that GH appeals to so many varieties of fans and has a huge following of younger women in high school and in college, and young moms. GH has  a HUGE following on Twitter and Facebook. Many times between 3pm and 4pm Eastern-standard time, General Hospital references have trended in the US. How can they say this soap is slipping? Everyone I talk to watches this show. Girls my age, their moms, their Grandmas, and their sisters. I grew up watching General Hospital with my Mom, so now I am passing the tradition on with my daughter. She is 3 1/2 and knows all the characters. For me, the GH flame still burns bright and I know all of us fans have the flame inside of us burning bright for this legendary piece of entertainment. So please, support our show, keep watching, keep it alive, and let’s pass it on to our kids for years to come.
