Maurice has always been up front and open about many aspects of his personal life, including mental illness. He has brought great awareness to the topic and has contributed to the cause in many ways. Simply speaking out about his Bi-polar and manic depression has helped so many who are dealing with similar situations. In his upcoming book, Nothing General About It, Maurice dives into his life from the beginning- he gives his readers a look into his childhood, his relationship with his Father, and the development of his bi-polar diagnosis.

Maurice is living a blessed life with his family, friends, and cast mates who are like family itself. He has had an outstanding career as he has been on screen practically 5 days a week for the last almost 3 decades.

General Hospital News: Maurice Benard On Dr. Oz

MauriceDrOzThe latest General Hospital news has revealed that GH’s own Maurice Benard will appear on ABC’s Dr. Oz show this coming week.
The actor who plays Sonny Corinthos has a struggle he shares with his Port Charles mobster character personality. Maurice Benard suffers in real life, as well has his character on screen, Sonny Corinthos, with the same mental illness. Benard was diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder, and is open about what he has gone through, his treatment, growth, and life, involving this disorder. On screen, Sonny Corinthos faces the same struggles as the actor who portrays him, along with his TV son, Morgan, played by Bryan Craig.
