Executive Producer Frank Valentini Tells What’s in Store for Patrick Drake

We have been watching Jason Thompson play the role of Dr. Patrick Drake for 7 years now. Since 2007 we have been able to recognize and appreciate his abilities as an actor. It’s always great to hear what General Hospital co-workers and TPTB think of our favorite stars.

In a recent article from Michael Fairman, he explains that in an interview on the red carpet for the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Frank Valentini let him in on what Patrick Drake will be up to throughout this Summer. He gives kudos to Jason Thompson for his amazing portrayal of the talented, good looking, father of the year, Dr. Patrick Drake. Frank Valentini revealed, “A lot will happen with Patrick over the summer and into the Fall, and we also have Sabrina’s return.  Jason Thompson is a tremendous actor who is constantly refining and reworking his craft.  He’s always in class, and he is such a wonderful guy and amazing.”

Valentini also gave major props to other actors on General Hospital. He explain that when casting new actors, they do it very carefully in order to keep up with the incredible talent that already exists in Port Charles. He mentioned Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos Jacks), and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis). In response to a question asking about the casting of Maura West (Ava Jerome), Donna Mills (Madeline Reeves), and Michelle Stafford (Nina Clay), he stated, “We have a tremendous cast, and we choose everyone very carefully, because of the caliber of actors such as Maurice Benard (Sonny), Laura Wright (Carly,) and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) … you’ve got to bring in some pretty big guns to compete with them.  You will see Donna Mills (Madeline) again this summer.”

General Hospital’s 51st Anniversary Preview

You want to know what will be happening on this special day? Today marks General Hospital’s 51st anniversary and it will be loaded with General Hospital history. For starters, we will be able to take a stroll down Carly lane with the three actresses that have played the character over the years. Sarah Joy Brown originated the role in 1996,later to return to General Hospital in a much different role as Claudia, daughter of mobster Anthony Zacchara. Tamara Braun took over the role of Carly until the current actress, Laura Wright has become the Carly we know today. All three women are extremely talented and have made fans fall in love with Carly three times over. Executive Producer Frank Valentini weighs in on Carlypalooza by stating, “We like to try and take advantage of the history of the show, and in honoring the history of the show, we not only honor the characters, but the actors, We have come up with a fun way for the audience to get a chance to see Sarah and Tamara again.”

Valentini also talks about their strategy for celebrating the 51st anniversary as a whole.  He explains, “We’re trying to make sure we mine the entire field of rich history that is GENERAL HOSPITAL as opposed to repeating some of things we’ve done. Instead of competing with ourselves, we didn’t want to repeat ourselves. The anniversary episode is really, really special, and there are many, many fun surprises for the audience and many nostalgic moments for them to enjoy.”

The entire anniversary month of April will be packed with history and excitement. Look for Maxie’s return to Port Charles and her encounter with a new guy named Levi. Monica is visited by loved ones, someone gets shot, and Luke’s lies are catching up with him. Don’t miss GH’s 51st anniversary month.

We have all been warned that today’s episode of GH is not to be missed! Tune in today for the 51st anniversary at 2PM Eastern on ABC!

General Hospital: The Return of the THREE Carlys!

General Hospital is about to mark it’s 51st Anniversary! This year, on APril 1st, there will be an episode dedicated to all things Caroline Benson, or as we like to call her now, Carly Corinthos Jacks.

Sources are uncertain on whether these comebacks will be in the form of flashbacks, dreams, or if the actresses themselves will be gracing us with their presence as another character on the show. Either way, we will get a taste of each one in the Carly filled episode that is part of General Hospital’s 51st anniversary special.

Sarah Joy Brown, Tamara Braun, and the current Carly, Laura Wright, have all done an amazing job as Carly. General Hospital Blog looks forward to seeing what the producers at General Hospital have in store for the fans.

Head Writer Ron Carlivati Tweeted a picture of Maurice Benard and all his “Carlys” in anticipation for the big Carly episode on GH’s 51st anniversary, this Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

Laura Wright Tweets Alderson, Howarth, and Easton Will Return to GH

Twitter is full of all sorts of useful and pertinent information. GH’s Carly (Laura Wright) answered the burning question regarding the status of the 3 OLTL vets, Kristen Alderson, Roger Howarth, and Michael Easton. She states that this isn’t goodbye but more like a see ya later type thing. Kristen Alderson also posted “Be back soon!!!” Check out the tweets below!

Laura Wright on ABC’s The Chew: Don’t Hate!

General Hospital’s Carly Corinthos Jacks (Laura Wright) will be joining the cast of The Chew today, May 31st at 1PM Eastern/Standard time. Strong opinions against this have been circulating the soap fan world, as they are not happy with Laura’s decision. As we all know, The Chew is the replacement show for our beloved soap All My Children. I have not ever watched The Chew or The Revolution. However, I will watch The Chew today solely to support GH star, Laura Wright. I don’t think Laura is doing a bad thing here. The damage has already been done, our soaps have already been canceled. Laura is supporting her network, ABC,  and her winery, Standing Sun Wines. The way I see it, having Ms. Wright on The Chew can only do good things for General Hospital. I think ABC actually made a smart move by having someone from General Hospital on The Chew. Who knows, it may even draw more people to General Hospital. As for the possibility of upping the ratings for The Chew because of Laura, it will work for today, but I highly doubt it will cause wild popularity for the show in the long run. And I am good with that. I will be watching today, and any other day that The Chew will honor our soap GH by having one of the stars as a guest and promoting General Hospital. Will I watch The Chew any other time? Heck no. Simply because I don’t even watch those types of shows. Please stop hating on Laura Wright for her decision to support her network, promote GH, and have some fun!

The Truth Comes Out! What’s Going to Happen to Bad Boy Johnny Z.?

Well yesterday’s GH was simply fantastic. With all those twists and turns in the plot I almost thought I was on some huge Cedar Point roller coaster despite my fear of heights and the simple fact that I have never once been on one, haha. But needless to say GH got me all turned upside down in a roller-coaster exciting rush sort of way. At first I was so confused watching Connie and Johnny go back and forth and tell their stories. I thought, how could they both think they did it? Then Johnny made it all clear, and even did the unthinkable. Anthony Zaccharra is now dead and the blood is on his own grandson’s hands. I am sad to see Bruce Weitz (Anthony) leave the show, I have loved his villain portrayal since his first day on GH. Who would have thought, a main character monster would actually go through with killing another main character on this show? And his own flesh and blood nonetheless. Johnny has always had a soft sweet side, unlike his ever so cold Grandfather, Anthony. Yesterday he shocked us all by coming out with how he plotted to shoot out Anthony’s tires, and convinced Connie to take the blame. What is going to happen to Johnny now? Dante looked like he was on Johnny’s tail in the preview, but that doesn’t mean it won’t take forever to come out. How long will Johnny be able to hide Anthony’s body? I don’t see how this man won’t be spending some time in jail. From shooting out Anthony’s tires and inadvertently killing Cole and Hope, to convincing Connie to lie, and then ultimately killing Anthony, how can he NOT end up in jail? Anything can happen on GH though. Brandon Barash confirmed that he is not leave GH, so maybe we will get to see him in lock up for a while. Oh boy, Carly is NEVER going to take him back once all this comes out. She put her trust in him not only romantically, (which he failed her miserably), but also as a person. She defended him to everyone and swore up and down Johnny wasn’t the one to shoot out Anthony’s tires. After all, she was his alibi. They were together that night, but she was fast asleep when he slipped out. Carly won’t take this lightly, she isn’t one to be made a fool of. If you’re a Carly and Johnny fan, I fear there isn’t much hope for reconciliation. I just can’t wait to keep watching.

Spencer Love: Will Carly and Luke Ever Really Get Along?

These two have a lot of chemistry, not romantically, but on screen they have a certain dynamic that draws you in. I think it’s the fact they they are Spencers and both as actors and characters they know how to own it. Luke and Carly are always using each other for favors and constantly owing something to one another. They fight, they take each other for granted, but I have a feeling they actually do care about each other. On Monday’s episode a could see a little bit of how Luke really does care for his niece. He was so concerned about her falling in love with Johnny. Aww Uncle Luke cares! I love the way these two characters are written and I think Laura Wright and Anthony Geary do a fantastic job in displaying their relationship with each other. In the middle of all the using, bickering, and Spencer-like scheming, I would like to see Carly and Luke go through something together and help each other out just one time. If they could have a story line that really brings out the Spencer family values with these two unlikely true companions, I think it would be really enjoyable for the audience. If tragedy strikes, I want to know that Carly and Luke can pull each other through because they are family.
