Adored General Hospital star Kirsten Storms stepped away from her iconic role as Maxie Jones due to a very personal situation. Recently, the 42 year old mother and actress stepped away from her role. Her GH status has been hanging in the balance. Now, Kirsten Storms updates GH fans on her current status.
According to Storms’s latest Instagram post, she confirms there’s an ongoing situation with her ex-husband, and father of her daughter, Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny Zacchara). In her post, Kirsten Storms referred to the situation as “2 ex-spouses dealing with a “disagreement,” that will be resolved.” Kirsten hopes to have their issue sorted out soon.

According to General Hospital news, Kirsten Storms is off contract shorty after her February 2026 return to the daytime Soap Opera.
General Hospital fan-favorite Kirsten Storms recently returned to the 63 year old daytime drama after a 6 month hiatus. Previously, Storms announced back in July that she was taking a break from her role as Maxie Jones to move down to Tennessee with her daughter Harper.
General Hospital fans were ecstatic when Kristen returned in February, and Maxie awoke from her coma. She declared her love for Spinelli and endured learning that Nathan moved on with her best friend, Lulu (Alexa Havins). Reports confirm that Storms GH status is now recurring. Kirsten Storms is off contract with General Hospital since April 3rd, as indicated by General Hospital credits.

Then there’s Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) who turned up over after 7 years. He was shot and killed by his father, the memory mapper himself, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). It’s undeniable that something is off of Nathan. What if Nathan has Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) memories? Let’s face it, the real Nathan would never go for Lulu (Alexa Havins), Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) best friend.
Drew Who?! The Hero OR The Wife-Stealing Uncle?
Next is Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). He was already once a victim of Faison’s memory mapping when Drew experienced having vivid memories belonging to Jason Morgan. And he hasn’t been the same since he returned from Pentonville. Drew had one last act of heroism when he saved Willow‘s life. Then, Drew began acting out-of-pocket. He was selfish and demanding, burned bridges, blackmailed friends, and so much more just to get ahead. Interestingly, Drew’s twin (Jason) isn’t evil. So must be some other reason, or someone else’s memories infringing upon Drew Cain.
Sweet, People-Pleasing, Weeping Willow OR Murderous In The Name Of Motherhood?
Finally, there is Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen). She has definitely changed over a short period of time, exhibit and bizarre, and I’ve heard their behavior. which could be by the Twin Theory. Were Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) memories somehow infused into Willow’s brain!?
Britt is Running Out of Time
According to the latest GH spoilers for 3-11-26, time is running out. Cullum and Sidwell kick things into high gear. The pressure is on, and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) is working on extremely limited, and borrowed time to finish Faison’s final project. Both Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and Sidwell (Carlo Rota) have Agent Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna) shaking in his gray WSB Agent suit.
What will come of all of this? It’s difficult to determine Faison’s goal- or what the outcome he has intended to accomplish.

Although Storms returns to the canvas as Maxie Jones this week, that doesn’t mean Maxie is out of the woods just yet. Reportedly, General Hospitalspoilers revealthat Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) make a decision about Maxie’s care. They now have the option to bring Maxie home to GH. Having Maxie remain at the long term care facility is the alternative. Evidently, Felicia and Spinelli decide to bring Maxie home to GH. She’s obviously on the mend, but she’s not out of the woods yet.
General Hospital rumors hint that things won’t be easy for Maxie once she wakes up from her coma. Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Nathan (Cesar Faison) are about to do Maxie dirty as her bestie and husband by default hook up. She struggles with her heart- torn between Spinelli and Nathan. General Hospital fan favorite, Kristen Storms announced her GH departure in late Summer of 2025. She was last seen onscreen as Maxie Jones in August. Reportedly, Storms took a break from her GH role while she moved to Tennessee, and got settled in with her daughter, Harper Rose Barash. Six months later, Kirsten Storms returns to General Hospital as Maxie Jones.
Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is very much loved around Port Charles. Her family and friends are doing what they can to ensure that Maxie’s children are well cared for and loved as they wait out their mom’s medical crisis. After what seemed like a fluke incident, Maxie fell ill while on set of Home an Heart. Since then, she’s been in a coma just like her bestie Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins)! We all know that Maxie’s condition is no fluke… but the inner workings of Sidwell’s calculated stratagem.
Maxie’s husband Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) is back from dead- and so is her ex-fiancé, and Nathan’s brother, Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Their sister Britt Westbourne mysteriously returned from the dead as well. Coincidence? I think not.

I’m going to first start off by saying that Maxie is one of my favorite characters of all time. Since 2005 Kirsten’s portrayal of Maxie Jones has captured my attention and adoration for the character and the actress. And because Kirsten Storms and I are only two years apart in age it feels like I’ve grown up right along with her character.

She sat down with co-stars Bradford Anderson and Steve Burton on their podcast called The Daily Drama. The 40 year old GH star reflected on her 2021 brain surgery and how the recovery process trickled into her work. “I didn’t bounce back from that mentally and emotionally as quick as I would want to,” she noted. “And I feel like how I felt personally was reflected in Maxie in the show.” She admitted.
This was a difficult time for Kirsten and the criticism from so-called fans added to it. But now that she’s creeping up on the three year mark since her surgery, Storms has a new outlook.
“Now, I’m starting to feel a little bit more like myself as I’m learning to take better care of me. And at work, I’m dressing in more fashionable outfits. I’m more into making sure my makeup goes with it,” she added. “I have a really different, cool hairstyle. All the old school Maxie stuff.”
The brave and beautiful Kirsten Storms seems readier than ever to take on Maxie, and wow fans with that iconic Maximista fashion sense. It’s interesting, because I thought back to the Nurses Ball of ’15 with Nathan and Ellie where [Maxie and Spinelli] had decided to get back together but then ultimately they were like, ‘It’s just the comfort of being together, the logic of being together because we have a kid.’ It wasn’t the right time.”
Anderson continued, “And since that time, she’s been with Nathan, who died, and Peter August, who was… Peter August,” he added with a laugh. “And then Austin Gatlin-Holt. I think her experiences (after losing Nathan (Ryan Paevey)) have kind of made her look for something that is solid, look for something that is safe, look for something that is good for her kids. And what could be better for her kids than, obviously, one of their parents, someone that she trusts implicitly and loves, and has always loved.”

Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and his daughter Georgie paid Ellie a visit in Portland. Ellie was grateful to see the little girl she helped raise when Spinelli had custody of his and Maxie Jones’s (Kirsten Storms) daughter.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Ellie has moved on from her relationship with Maxie’s ex. Given that Ellie’s return came as a big surprise to GH fans, Ellie’s connection to former a General Hospital doctor added to the element of surprise.
Griffin Monro (Matthew Cohen) arrived in Port Charles as a medicine-practicing Priest. Soon after, he left the Priesthood and pursued a relationship with Ava Jerome (Maura West). General Hospital comings and goings rumors suggest Matthew Cohen could be on his way back to Port Charles. It’s interesting to ponder why GH writers would not only bring Ellie back and make mention of Griffin if there wasn’t a plan to develop a storyline and highlight their connection.
Griffin Monro and Ellie Trout have ties to Port Charles that could lead them back to pieces of their past. As Ava’s ex, GH rumors hint Griffin could be relevant to Ryan’s next move toward Ava. His fixation on the sophisticated and beautiful Ava Jerome has not let up after all this time. GH spoilers predict Ava’s troubles far surpass any grief Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) throws her way.
