It was a surprise to see Lulu’s daughter Charlotte back on screen. However, the recast role caught fans even more off-guard. The role of Charlotte Cassadine has been recast, and Bluesy Burke made her General Hospital debut. The new Charlotte Cassadine recast debuted on the September 8, 2025 GH episode.

In 2016, a 7 year old Scarlett Fernandez stepped into Charlotte Cassadine’s shoes, and she’s been a beloved member of the GH cast since her debut. As the daughter of Lulu and Valentin, Charlotte comes from two prominent families in Port Charles. In fact, her mother‘s family and father‘s family have been arch enemies since the 1980s. The age old rivalry between the Spencer family and the Cassadine family lives on despite the absence of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and Luke Spencer (Tony Geary).

According to the GH news, a casting change raised questions about Scarlett Fernandez’s GH status. Reportedly, the role of Charlotte Cassadine has been recast. 17 year old Bluesy Burke has been cast as the new Charlotte. She shared her first scene with tv mom, Alexa Havins. Charlotte and Lulu had a heart to heart about boundaries and growing up.

Cast changes happen often in the soap opera genre, especially among child actors. Many times they are SORASed and are in need of an older actor to step into the role, and for other various reasons.

General Hospital news reports confirm that actress, Scarlett Fernandez is exiting the role of Charlotte Cassadine on General Hospital.

General Hospital spoilers reveal Fernandez has taken to Instagram to announce her departure, along with a heartfelt message. She writes, “I’m super grateful for the opportunity that @fvalentinigh and @markteschner gave me in 2016. Playing Charlotte has been my favorite and I’m sad it’s come to an end. I will miss my castmates and crew and I know the fans will support the new actor playing Charlotte. Thank you for all the support! #ScarlettisCharlotte #gh”

We’re not crying, you’re crying! Fernandez will most certainly be missed. Although General Hospital’s comings and goings reports have not disclosed any reason for her exit, we will keep fans up to date on any new developments and General Hospital spoilers.
