Who is Staying in Port Charles? Who Will be Leaving?

General Hosptal’s 50th anniversary brought back many familiar faces. Some we expected to see and others came as a complete shock. Have you been wondering which of these characters will be sticking around and for how long? We have some answers for you. In an interview with TV Guide, Ron Carlivati gives fans the inside scoop on the actors/characters comings and going.

Luke, Laura, and Scotty’s love triangle still has room to grow. Even after Luke and Laura get back from their adventure of saving their daughter, Lulu, these three characters will be sticking around so that Luke, Laura, and Scotty can work things out.

Carlivati states that Lucy Coe and her portrayer Lynn Herring will be sticking around Port Charles for a long while. He even says, “I think Lucy is already planning next year’s Nurses Ball!”

Felicia (Kristina Wagner) had to choose between the two great loves of her life, Frisco (Jack Wagner) and Mac John York). She chose Mac and now Frisco is bitter and angry. Maxie is having a baby in a few months so this does leave an opening for a possible visit from Frisco in the near future.

Ingo Rademacher (Jax) scored a spot on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars so GH had less time to work with him. The whole story with Brenda, Michael and Carly was a quick decision after Ingo was set to be on DWTS.

Regarding Nurse Bobbi (Jackie Zeman), Carlivati tells TV Guide that she will be leaving Port Charles. But he says she will definitely be returning to Port Charles for other important events.

There as been a lot of back and forth regarding whether or not John Stamos will be reprising his role as Blackie Parrish. Carlivati explains threat there was a lot of confusion and miscommunication when it comes to Stamos. He also mentions that there is still a possibility for his return in the future.

Those at GH plan to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary all year long. This leaves a lot of time for more intense, classic GH stories involving vet characters.

General Hospital’s 50th Anniversary and Nurses Ball Plans

A TV Guide Magazine post spills details of the big events. General Hospital’s Nurses Ball and the 50th anniversary are events that you will not want to miss. The wheels have been in motion for months and we have seen favorite characters return and old flames rekindle.

From Mac, Felicia, and Frisco, to Anna and Duke, and Luke and Laura, the last few months have been a blast from the General Hospital past. There is more of that to come as Rick Springfield returns as Dr, Noah Drake. He will be performing his hit song, “Jessie’s Girl” at the Nurses Ball. Kelly Monaco will be showing her amazing dance talents acquired from starring on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. She will be accompanied by dance professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy, brother of Kelly’s dance partner, Val Chmervokskiy. Val is currently busy working on the latest season of DWTS with his new partner, Zendaya Coleman. Meanwhile, Patrick (Jason Thompson) just might fall for Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) when he sees her true beauty emerge at the Nurses Ball. Will the return of Robin complicate things and create a new love triangle? Ron Carlivati states, “This would in so many ways be the ideal time for Robin to walk through the door, “it would be a total game-changer but, while I’m promising a whole lot of surprises at the Nurses Ball, I’m not promising what they’ll be.” With this cryptic message from Ron, it only gets fan’s heads spinning with excitement even faster. The return of Robin would be about the biggest thing to happen to GH’s 50th and the Nurses Ball. After all, the ball is to honor AIDS patients and Dr. Scorpio herself.

What would be a Nurses Ball without the lovely Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) hosting the event? Lynn mentions that she, Finola Hughes (Anna DeVane), and Kristina Wagner (Felicia Jones), have picked up right where they left off some 25-30 years ago.

Since the return of Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), Luke and Laura have been yet another iconic blast from the past. Although we have been fortunate to keep Luke throughout the years, having both parties to the super couple make for some exciting and adventurous stories. During the Nurses Ball celebration, Luke and Laura will be off trying to find their daughter Lulu after she is kidnapped. Luke and Laura will run into the ever-so-evil Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) in their quest to save their daughter. Anthony Geary expresses his feelings about these nostalgic story lines GH is pulling out and bringing to light once again. He says, “These episodes are pure nostalgia — the kind of high-stakes, high-energy, really well-conceived plotting that’s reminiscent of the Luke and Laura glory days.”

It’s quite obvious that not only the fans, but the actors, cast, and crew are just as excited about this 50th celebration. Putting their whole heart and soul into this with a lot of extremely hard work and dedication.

Here is an amazing quote of dedication and inspiration from long time GH fan himself, Ron Carlivati, “We couldn’t celebrate the 50th without another epic Luke and Laura adventure. They’re no longer a couple, and they may never again be a couple, but their love for each other — like GH itself — is still going strong.” Priceless!

The Nurses Ball will air April 5th, 8th, and 9th.

Congratulations General Hospital!

Back from the Dead: Chris Robinson Returns to GH as Dr. Rick Webber

The surprises just keep on coming! Hey, wasn’t he supposed to be dead?! Why yes, yes he was. Welcome to Soap Opera universe, where the impossible is more than possible. The character ofDr. Rick Webber was popular during the 70’s and 80’s and played opposite Monica, Alan, and Lesley. With Laura and Scotty back in POrt Charles, this story could reall all tie together. Back in 2002, Laura, (Rick’s Step-Daughter) was the supposed killer of Rick, but Scotty Baldwin was the actual killer. They made it out as if Dr. Webber had turned into a villain to justify his murder. TV Guide revelas that Chris Robinson will be filming his first scenes with co-star Lesley Charleson (Dr. Monica Quartermaine).

Actor Chris Robinson was working on a movie, a Western film, The Foresaken, when he got the call from ABC that they wanted him back at GH. Although the return of Dr. Rock Webber is definitely a surprise, the character is not returning just for the celebration of GH’s 50th anniversary. Ron Carlivati stated that his return has to do with ‘damage control.” Damage that was done to a classic vet character and now must be redeemed. In TV Guide’s article, Carlivati says, “I grew up loving Rick and Monica — to me, as a young fan, they were what GH was all about — and I really wanted to find a way to bring Rick back despite his death.” He adds, “I also couldn’t imagine Rick would do some of the horrible things he did in his last appearance. That wasn’t the Rick Webber I remembered!” In no way is Carlivati criticizing the work of past writers, he just feels that there is a way to redeem this character even after his supposed death.

Expect to see his first scenes April 1st, 2013.

General Hospital Keeps Getting Better

Whether you love, despise, like, or could care less about some of the story lines on GH right now, no one can deny that General Hospital is at an outstanding high. There is so much excitement going on in Port Charles it is impossible to not be hooked. I totally understand the frustration of certain fan bases, because not all fans are going to be happy 100 percent of the time. But think about it, how would that even be possible? Right now, The Sonny and Brenda fans loathe the Sonny and Kate (SKate) pairing. The JaSam fans hate the fact that Liz is even breathing, and the baby switch story? Forget it! The writers are getting a lot of crap for a lot of things, but I really think it comes with the territory. Soap fans are dedicated and devoted, and basically throw their souls into the characters and couples they love most. No matter which story line is fueling your fire or feeding your passion for the show, we have to give credit to the writers and producers for keeping General Hospital and all it’s fans on the edges of their seats, and I am personally grateful for how the stories have been handled lately. In all the 20 years I have been watching this show, I have never witnessed such progression in the plots. For the first time, the stories aren’t being dragged on for decades. Take today’s episode for instance, Sam confronts Jason about the attack on McBain. In the past, this NEVER would have happened so fast. She would have hemmed and hawed, confided in someone else, Jason would have tried to hide it from Sam, someone would overhear something… so on and so forth. I LOVE the fact that they are just rolling right along, REALISTICALLY. I think that is what is keeping everyone on their toes. There is no down time. Even Heather tampering with the paternity, the big reveal that Jason is the daddy, didn’t take that long to come out. Sure we found out a few months ago that Franco was the baby’s Father, and we all speculated that Heather had something to do with it. But the truth came out fast and easy. It was enjoyable to watch Heather with the results directly, no beating around the bush, no guessing games. I really want to say how amazing Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini and all the other cast and crew are making this show. The actors have been stellar and giving it their all. This is such a great time for General Hospital and we have the cast and crew to thank. Please keep supporting our show!
