Sonny Corinthos Then and Now
Sonny Corinthos has been a key character on General Hospital since 1993, played by Maurice Benard. A powerful mob boss in Port Charles, he balances ruthless business tactics with fierce loyalty to his loved ones. He has faced many challenges, including bipolar disorder, turbulent romances, and deadly rivalries. Despite his criminal ties, he remains devoted to family and friends. His complex nature makes him a fan favorite. Co-star Laura Wright, who plays Carly Corinthos, calls him “the mobster with a heart of gold,” capturing his mix of toughness and compassion.
Lois Marie Cerullo (Rena Sofer) from Bensonhurst came to Port Charles back in 1993. In that time she reunited with her old friend Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). The one who brought her to Port Charles would eventually become her husband. Lois spotted “Eddie Maine” aka Ned Ashton at a concert in New York. She and Ned had a daughter together, Brook Lynn Ashton Quartermaine. Rena Sofer left the role in 1997. The role was recast in 2004-2005 by actress Lesli Kay.
General Hospital spoilers hint that now that her daughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) is back in Port Charles, Lois may have a few reasons to come check up on her wild child. Although Brook Lynn is clearly an adult, she seems to make rash decisions, which end up getting her into trouble. Currently, Brook Lynn is mixed up in some business deal gone wrong with a record producer. Her father, Ned, has basically told her to figure this out on her own. He refused to help her by buying out the creep who is harassing Brook Lynn. This may be time for a mother’s love to step in!
Rena Sofer currently plays, Quinn Fuller on The Bold and the Beautiful and is seemingly unavailable to play the role as Lois Cerullo unless she makes special arrangements with the networks. Such arrangements are not unheard of, as Sofer’s ex-husband, Wally Kurth, plays on both ABC’s General Hospital and NBC’s Days of Our Lives. The recast for Lois, Lesli Kay, has also played on The Bold and the Beautiful along with Rena Sofer. Kay plays Felicia Forrester. Lesli Kay is not currently in a role on a Daytime Drama.
General Hospital rumors claim Lois will want to step in and help her daughter in her crisis. Does Lois need to make a comeback to Port Charles?
Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is desperately trying to help his father. Mike Corbin (Max Gail) is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease which negatively effects memory, and the condition progressively worsens over time. About month or so ago, Sonny brought up a possible trial treatment to his wife Carly, (Laura Wright) along with other family members who ultimately shot the idea down. Something isn’t sitting right with Sonny as he isn’t completely convinced he should just let nature take it’s course. Sonny has had the feeling that if there is something out there that could possibly reverse the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s, he wouldn’t rule it out.
Mike has already gotten worse as he is having more and more episodes where he reverts back to the old days, thinks Sonny is a young boy again, and thinks that family members are old neighborhood friends and enemies.
General Hospital spoilers hint that Sonny will revisit the notion of giving the medical trial for Mike a try. Chances are he hasn’t hung up the idea just yet, and he may just go for it, despite what the rest of the family has advised.
Mike could face the natural progression of this debilitating disease, or, he could go through the trial as Sonny wishes. What will happen and what could go wrong? Oh so much…
Detective Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews) has had it out for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his organization since the 1990s. Back in the day, it was Taggert’s sole mission in life to nail Sonny and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) for crimes they did and didn’t commit. As long as he could pin something on Sonny, he would try his hardest just to get him behind bars.
It seems Taggert is on a new mission this time around. In a recent episode of General Hospital, Taggert tells Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry), “I’m not here to bring Sonny to justice.” That statement was a shock to GH viewers judging by Taggert’s past mission in life, and also raises suspicions. If Taggert isn’t in Port Charles to take down Sonny, what exactly is he here to do? He and Jordan obviously have some type of past connection which obviously rattled Jordan. She found herself lying to her husband Curtis (Donnell Turner) about knowing Taggert.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Jordan is hiding a huge secret. It seems that Taggert is the only know who knows the truth and Jordan may soon regret calling Taggert back to town. Curtis becomes increasingly suspicious of his wife which could lead to big problems since views know Jordan has already lied to him.
What do Taggert and Jordan have to hide from their past? It’s obviously big enough to lie to Curtis about even knowing one another. Curtis is in the business of digging into people’s backgrounds to uncover truths. What makes Jordan think she can keep her secret in the dark?
Sonny Corinthos (Maurce Benard) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) have found themselves in a very serious situation. These two are no strangers to danger but it’s been a while since things have been this heated in Port Charles. They have already been ambushed in two different cities on the same night, causing family and close friends to be in direct range of the danger. Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), a close friend of Sonny’s has already paid the price when she was shot while standing on the pier. Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) instincts kicked in when he shielded Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) from the shots being fired and ran to Laura’s side when she went down. Since that night, Sonny and Jason have been scrambling, trying to figure out who is behind all of this.
Sonny and Jason know they need to protect their families and will go to extreme measures to do just that. Jason knows his wife Sam (Kelly Monaco) can hold her own and even help in the process, but still, his number one priority is to keep her and their children safe from the fallout of this mob war.
The threat of extreme danger extends further than Sonny and Jason. Jasper Jacks (Jax) (Ingo Rademacher) has close ties to the Corinthos family since he and Sonny’s wife, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) have a daughter together, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). Jax isn’t going to sit back and do nothing while knowing that his daughter is in direct danger because of Sonny and Jason’s situation.
In a new General Hospital spoilers promo, Jax is shown arguing with the mother of his daughter and Carly isn’t happy with that Jax is asking of her. In order to protect Josslyn, General Hospital spoilers tease that Jax will tell Carly that she needs to keep her distance from Joss, keeping Joss out of harms way. It’s possible that Jax suggests Josslyn come live with him, or even that he should take their daughter far away from Port Charles. Carly doesn’t want to be separated from her daughter, although she knows what needs to be done in order to keep her safe.
Will Sonny and Jason get the situation under control before extreme measures need to be taken to protect the ones they love?
Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) cousin Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) came to Port Charles claiming to simply want to visit family, see how Mike (Max Gail) is doing and so on. She gave Sonny a sob story about how she misses her late son, Brando (Johnny Wactor). All the while, General Hospital spoilers have been hinting that Gladys has ulterior motives. She is currently taking money from Sonny in an agreement that she pretends to be Dev Cerci’s (Ashton Arbab) Grandmother while he stays with the Corinthos family.
In recent General Hospital spoilers, it has been revealed that Brando, Gladys Corbin’s son, is actually alive and showed up in the middle of the shoot out. Brando is the gunman who saved Carly from the shots fired but things may not be what they seem. Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) may already be onto Brando, after she asked him if he is working for Sonny or the enemy. He saved Carly (Laura Wright) no doubt, but he could have only done that to try and play Sonny and make them think he is on their side.
Brando could definitely be working for the enemy, especially since we were led to believe he was dead, but there is possibly a bigger picture. General Hospital spoilers indicate he could actually be one of the good guys. It’s quite possible Brando had to fake his death in order to stay incognito, while working on taking down Sonny’s enemies from the inside.
New General Hospital rumors claim Brando and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) may know one another beyond being relatives. GH rumors that Brando could also work for the WSB, and has ties with Dante from there.
It remains to be seen which side Brando is on, but as the mob story unfolds, it’ll become very clear where he stands.
Will Brando stand with Sonny and the Corinthos clan or is he someone they need to fear?
WOW! What a powerful new General Hospital spoilers promo for 2020. General Hospital has titled this promo, “Victory,” which pretty much sums up the town of Port Charles, the people, and what they all stand for as a whole. Although Port Charles is filled with danger, drama, and heartache, the new GH promo puts focus on the good that is happening in town and to the people of Port Charles.
In the new General Hospital spoilers promo, Ava Jerome (Maura West) says, “Onward and upward” which is among the many positive statements and scenes within the 2 minute and 15 second clip. The promo shows siblings reconnecting, babies being born, sister in laws getting along, and much more.
This could be the calm before the storm. The new General Hospital spoilers 2020 promo comes just in time, right amidst the mob war that has now broke out in Port Charles and in Brooklyn. General Hospital spoilers have been indicating for weeks that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), and more are among those directly involved in the mob war that has blindsided the boss, Sonny. February Sweeps is quickly appraoching and the drama is about to heat up. It’s important to think of all the calm, quiet, and peaceful times in Port Charles during this wild, and even violent times.
“Plenty of bad things happen in these halls every day, but, there is always something good waiting just around the corner.” Those words of wisdom came from General Hospital Head Nurse, Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy). The new promo closes out with Sonny and Laura thanking God for General Hospital.
Sonny Corinthos and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) have the right idea as at the end of the clip, the two thank God for GH in a conversation with one another.
Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) has been working on a project outside of General Hospital and he is excited to announce the movie he has been working on now has a release date. ‘Hold On’ was supposed to be released back in February of 2018. After a lengthy delay for the full release, Benard is happy to announce the updated release date. ‘Hold On’ starring Maurice Benard, Flava Flav, Luis Guzman, John Savage, along with Writer/Director, Tarek Tohme. ‘Hold On’ will be in theaters on December 6th, 2019!
This year on General Hospital, November Sweeps brought in some big returns as many fan favorite characters have made their way back to Port Charles. The Quartermaine family has been looking scarce in recent years as many Quartermaine family members have either passed on or moved out of Port Charles.
General Hospital spoilers reveal things are about to be stirred but as a result of the recent return of a younger generation Quartermaine, Brook Lynn Ashton (Amanda Setton), formerly played by Adrienne Leon. Brook Lynn is the daughter of Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth) and Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), and Granddaughter of the one and only, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). In last week’s BREAKING GH news, General Hospital spoilers revealed the big return of GH retired Jane Elliot. Elliot will return to General Hospital this Thanksgiving to reprise her role as Tracy Quartermaine.
Now that Brook Lynn is back in town, she has come in like a storm and getting into everyone’s business. General Hospital spoilers have been hinting a return for Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) ever since some residents of PC have been name dropping in recent weeks, Brook Lynn included. After Dante’s mother, Olivia Falconeri Ashton (Lisa LoCicero) received notice and direction from her son that it would be best if they cut ties. Dante is going through severe PTSD. Lulu Spencer Falconeri (Emme Rylan) really has had no say in the matter, as Dante is the one who filed for divorce and she just had to accept it. Brook Lynn waltzes into Port Charles, sticking her nose into Lulu’s business. She assumes Lulu is the one who gave up too fast on Dante and she is bothered by this. It doesn’t matter what Lulu says, or how she explains how it happened, Brook Lynn doesn’t want to listen. Brook Lynn will also jump to conclusions when she sees Lulu with Dustin. She is going to blame Lulu for not trying harder on her marriage, making claims that Lulu had her interests elsewhere.
All this talk about Dante has got fans wondering if TPTB at GH are making their way to working Dante back into the story line. General Hospital has left the door open for actor Dominc Zamprogna to return to General Hospital as Dante Falconeri. At this point it is not certain if Zamprogna will be returning, or possibly even a few cameos or recurring status.
General Hospital Blog will keep fans up to date and report GH comings and goings as news comes in with any information that confirms a return for Zamprogna.

This Summer, ABC launched a night time drama, Grand Hotel. Bryan Craig, along with co-stars Eva Longoria, and Roselyn Sanchez, to name a few, received some disappointing news regarding their career. Since the announcement of the cancellation of ABC’s Grand Hotel, rumors have been swirling around the idea of Morgan coming back from the dead.
Bryan Craig has been a hot topic lately in the ABC circuit. We all know and love him as son of mob boss, Sonny Corinthos, but more recently, his character, Javier Mendoza captured the interest of new viewers.
Morgan’s death took a toll on the city of Port Charles, and especially impacted the Corinthos clan. Sonny and Carly have been through the ringer when it comes to trials and tribulations surrounding family life, particularly their children. Most recently, although the birth of their new baby girl is a happy blessing, Sonny and Carly are still up against a difficult situation. Baby Donna has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida and will undergo major surgery.
The Corinthos family needs some light shed on all of the darkness that hangs over them like a storm cloud. Hoping that Donna’s surgery will be a success, there is also another thing to hope for.
General Hospital spoilers reveal ABC has cancelled Grand Hotel, which means Bryan Craig will be free to pursue work elsewhere. General Hospital rumors point directly to the obvious- a General Hospital return for Bryan Craig.
If Morgan Corinthos makes his way back to Port Charles, the Corinthos family will be whole again.
Would you like to see Bryan Craig reprise his role as Morgan Corinthos on GH?
