After the April 11th announcement by ABC that the OLTL trio, Alderson, Easton, and Howarth will be returning to GH on may 10th, 2013, the actors were able to express their feelings towards the decision. Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton used social media to reach out to their fans. Alderson sent out a tweet expressing her excitement and Easton wrote on his Facebook page, “SEE YOU AGAIN IN MAY… with love and thanks.”
The three actors will be entering General Hospital in brand new roles. I am very excited and interested to see that wonderful work of Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati with this huge challenge.
Rumors are buzzing about what will happen to Starr Manning now that she told Michael she isn’t coming back to Port Charles. The fact that Prospect Park owns the rights to the name Starr Manning has everything to do with why this whole situation has gotten so out of control. Fans keep wondering if Kristen Alderson will return to GH as Starr, reprise her role on OLTL, or return to GH as an entirely different character. Fans are making their own theories about Starr’s status with GH based on last night’s tweet by Kristen. Alderson tweeted about change and how scary it can be. She mentioned that, “Tomorrow is HUGE.” Fans have put together an assumption that “change” means that Kristen Alderson may no longer be Starr Manning, and that what is “HUGE” could possibly be the first day she tapes as a new character on General Hospital. Kristen confirmed via Twitter that this news was not true. She stated that the tweet had nothing to do with her being at GH. She wasn’t there today. Check out the tweets below!
The news regarding the OLTL trio (Starr Manning, Todd Manning, and John McBain) has been up in the air since the actors left GH due to legal issues. Since the announcement of the revival of All My Children and One Life to Live, the fate of Starr, Todd, and John lies in the hands of those who own their character names. Prospect Park, the production company responsible for the online renewals of the two canceled ABC soaps stakes their claim in the characters names that had recently found a home in Port Charles.
The characters left Port Charles about a month ago and were said to be coming back. However, it remained unclear as to whether the actors would return to General Hospital under the same character names or if they would legally have to return under new identities. Today on General Hospital, Michael was on the phone with Starr telling her all about the Nurses Ball. Suddenly he was saddened and shocked as it was obvious that Starr was telling him that she wouldn’t be returning to Port Charles.
At this time, we are unaware of what lies ahead for Starr and her OLTL co-stars Todd and John McBain. Perhaps this phone call between Starr and Michael was just buying time until her return. It could also be a transition of eliminating the character all together, or prepping for the actress (Kristen Alderson) to be part of General Hospital under a different character’s name. General Hospital Blog hopes that something can be worked out so that these three actors can return to the canvas and reside in Port Charles once again. We miss them!
TV Guide Magazine has reported some new news regarding the departure of John McBain (Michael Easton), Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson), and Todd Manning (Roger Howarth) from General Hospital. The trio was forced to leave GH due to some legal issues involving the reboot of Prospect Park’s OLTL. Everyone has been wondering what will happen with these actors and their characters if and when they return to GH. Well good news is, they get to return. Bad news is, they may be forced to take on new roles.
OLTL owns the rights to the three characters and GH Head Writer, Ron Carlivati is working hard to come up with intuitive ways to work around this problem. Starr, Todd, and John have become staples in their new Port Charles lives and it wil be difficult to work around this but they will do whatever needs to be done.
This news has not yet been confirmed by General Hospital or ABC. It also has not been denied.
Check out what Heather is up to in Port Charles. There is a lot going on with the Mothers of Port Charles. What is up with Starr? Could Cole or Hope be alive? Sam wants Danny back, and Anna misses Robin.
Prospect Park just released a statement regarding the status of characters John McBain, Starr Manning, and Todd Manning. They said that they are willing to work something out to be able to share the characters so that this results in a win-win situation for everyone involved. GH fans have grown to love these characters and were saddened to hear of their possible departure from Port Charles. OLTL fans also want their beloved characters. So hopefully this way, everyone can be happy. Judging from this week’s General Hospital Blog Poll results, the fans really want this trio to stay. 61% of fans want then to stay in Port Charles, 29% would like them to be shared between PC and Llanview, and the remaining 10% say they should be in Llanview. Basically 90% want them in some way to remain at General Hospital.
With the news regarding Prospect Park’s revival of the retired ABC Soap Opera OLTL brings uncertainty to fans in regards to actors Alderson, Howarth, and Easton. Since the ending of OLTL, ABC soap stars Roger Howarth (Todd Manning), Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning), and Michael Easton (John McBain), have found a home on the set of General Hospital, carrying on the legacy of their original OLTL characters to Port Charles. Since OLTL will be making it’s comeback online, there has been word that these three stars will be headed back to OLTL’s Llanview. Check out the full TV Guide article here.
Kassie DePaiva will be returning to General Hospital as Blair Kramer, former Llanview resident. She is the ex wife of bad boy Todd Manning and Mother to Starr Manning. She first came to Port Charles a couple months ago when Starr was in an accident and lost her boyfriend and little girl Hope. Blair seemed to hit it of with Carly, they have a lot in common. Maybe the two lovely ladies could become great friends even though their ex husbands are at dangerous odds with one another.
First I have to start off by stating that I am still saddened by the cancellation of AMC and OLTL. Just as GH, I grew up watching AMC and OLTL with my Mother. That being said, I for one was really excited to hear that some of the OLTL actors would be crossing over and taking up residence in Port Charles. Some viewers have been having mixed emotions on the news of One Life to Love characters coming over to General Hospital. For me, it is definitely a plus. I don’t understand what would possibly be bad about these interjections. I mean, Port Charles gets new residents all the time anyways, so why not have some be familiar faces from other fictional towns? I watched Starr Manning grow up on OLTL and am happy to see her make such a splash on General Hospital. She is doing a fantastic job. Her first few days in PC were very emotional and Kristen Alderson brought it! I felt her pain almost as if it were real. And I say “almost” because let’s be honest, no TV show can compare to the very human, very real feeling of personal loss. But she definitely got us as close as it can get. Every Mother’s worst nightmare was played out in those scenes and Kristen really knew how to bring it home. As the weeks have been going on Starr is mingling her way through the people of PC and establishing some important personal as well as business relationships. I can’t wait to see where they will take this character in the near and distant future. I am liking her with Michael right now, but I am also open to other options. Matt maybe? Please feel free to leave a comment below and let us know what you think! Congrats Ms. Alderson, and welcome to GH. You are doing a stellar job!
